You can’t be around Pastor Mike Beals for very long without “catching” his very contagious life message—say “yes” to Jesus. Pastor Mike’s “yes” has led to a very clear calling on his life—to win the lost for Christ, to shepherd God’s people, and to train people for ministry in the church and in Christian higher education. For 19 years, Pastor Mike has lived out this call as Senior Pastor of Mission Hills.
Mike began attending Mission Hills in 1978 as a college student. He then entered full-time pastoral ministry in 1981, serving as a youth pastor in Lomita, CA. In 1986, Mike returned to Mission Hills to serve as Pastor of Education and Principal of Mission Hills Christian School. He then became Senior Pastor of MHCC in 1989.
Mike and Faith have been married for 28 years. They have two beautiful daughters and a fabulous son-in-law. Amanda is in high school and this past summer Sarah married Caleb Stewart. Mike and Faith love the beach, sailing, sushi, watching action/adventure movies and playing gin rummy (Faith’s an ace). Whenever he gets a chance, you’ll find Mike in or on the water, reading in a coffeehouse, or dreaming one day he will play the cello like Yo-Yo Ma.
Mike graduated from Vanguard University in 1981 with a B.A. in Religion and Psychology and later with an M.A. in Church Leadership. He then continued his studies at Fuller Theological Seminary, earning the M.A. in Biblical Studies and Theology and the Ph.D. in Christian Ethics. Pastor Mike now teaches theology, philosophy and ethics at Vanguard University and at Fuller Seminary. |
