Congregational Care Notes
With Pastor Larry OwenLove.  It's a word that never gets old and a theme I never get tired of talking about.  It's so big.  I love ice cream, my wife, Lucchese cowboy boots, my children and their children, gospel music, the Lord, and you all.  (Not at all in that order!!!)  Please, dear family, let love be the focus of your lives.  That's what Congregational Care is all about - practical love.  VERY practical love.  Making strangers feel welcomed.  Helping the weak become strong.  Protecting the innocent so they can remain innocent and encouraging the strong to become mighty.  How can we do this?  Hummmm, have you asked the Lord?!!

Pour salt on your tongue!I love spicy food...and I especially enjoy chili peppers.  The hotter the better.  But if you are going to eat habaneros, you need to have the salt handy.  You see, the real heat of a chili pepper is from the oils inside.  Once they're on your tongue, go ahead and drink all the water you want, it doesn't cut the heat.  Pour salt on your tongue, and it draws out the oil and knocks down the fire. This trick has come in quite handy.Paul said to the Colossians (4:6), "Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person." The next time you find yourself heating up in a conversation or argument...find the grace - pour salt on your tongue.  That'll knock downthe fire.Peace to you this week.Pastor Mike
