Check the connection...As a boy, I loved model trains, and I remember my first HO-scale train set.  Locomotive and freight cars; oval track, speed controller.  I put the track together, set the locomotive on the track, rolled the cars in one by one until the couplers grabbed, hooked up the leads, plugged in the controller and...nothing.  It didn't work!  I checked the plug and leads. I checked the locomotive.  I asked my dad. "Check the track," he said, "it's probably a loose connection."  He was right.  Everything looked to be in place but the power couldn't get there. If you are feeling like the power has switched off in your life...check the connection points.  You'll get the power you need.Pastor Mike

Connections
There are lots of ways to get connected at MHCC.  One of the best ways is to join a Life Group. Take a look on our website at our list of groups and sign up on-line OR start your own group. Sound scary? It's really not. Find a couple of people you'd like to hang out with, maybe in the same season of life or with similar interests, and start meeting for dinner or coffee or a morning walk on a regular basis. If you'd like to start out with a spiritual growth book study or DVD-based study, I've got lots of ideas I'd love to share with you (I'm a self-professed book junkie). Sound like a plan? Give me call at (949) 278-5958 or e-mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Frontline Men's MinistryGreetings to all the men at MHCC from the Frontline Men's Ministry team.  We are confirmed for our Men's Breakfast at Tijeras Creek Golf Club on Saturday, April 26th at 8 am.  I look forward to seeing all of you there as we discuss current issues in our prophecy update.  The cost is only $10 and you can start signing up  on Sunday morning.  I wanted to give a shout out to our men's softball team who have really turned their season around.  They came up with another win on Tuesday night, playing some of their best ball of the year.  If you are interested in joining the men contact Len West through the church office and get your name in the mix for the next season!  We are still meeting every Thursday morning at Cinnamon Productions at 6:30 am for great food and fellowship.  Start the day off right and come join us.  We are confirming our date for the next Mission Hills Grand Prix at K1 Speed in Irvine and it looks like Wednesday, June 4th is the day.  Signups won't be until May, but set that date aside now so that you will have the evening free.  Continue to pray for your brothers in Christ at the church.  Men like Glenn Latham need our prayers for God's strength as they go through difficult times.  Men of God make a difference when they pray! James 5:16.

Congregational Care Notes
With Pastor Larry Owen
ROMAN 13:9, "...Love your neighbor as yourself..."That sums up all the commandments, but the problem is that few of our neighbors could stand that much love.
  • When you walk by a mirror to you almost always look at yourself?  Do you pay that much attention to your neighbor?
  • When you try out a new pen, what's the first word you write?  MOST LIKELY ANSWER: Your own name.  A person's name is their most prized possession.  Do we even know the name of our neighbor?  How often do we use it?
CONGREGATIONAL CARE is loving our brothers and sisters the way we would like to be loved.  Extravagantly!  Sensitively.  Thoughtfully.  Who have you shown extravagant love to this week?

"Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it in thanksgiving." Colossians 4:2I remember one Christmas when I was ten years old and I prayed every day for the two weeks before that I would get a certain video game from my parents. Christmas came and I got it. It seemed so easy, pray with diligence, and it will happen. Of course, the concept of God's will wasn't that apparent to me then as it is now. Inversely, praying earnestly is something that was so much easier as a child. I find that in my prayers today I can acknowledge God's will but I sometimes lack that diligence I had when I was younger. When it comes to communion with God, He clearly wants us to be persistent, careful and thankful. Not thankful that He will always answer our prayers, but thankful that we have the opportunity to commune with Him and thankful knowing that His will is always going to happen. Earnestness builds patience, so even if certain prayers remain unanswered, continue with diligence and thanksgiving knowing that God is in control no matter the outcome. Author: Sunil Gaglani
